Dong Tien Cave is located on Chan Quy mountain, between Da Den mountain and Bach Ma mountain in Yen Phu commune. Together with nearby caves such as Thien Dinh, Dan Da, Thien Cung, Tam Cung, Thach Sanh, and Am Phu, it forms a nationally recognized scenic heritage complex in Tuyen Quang province.

For generations, local communities considered the cave a sacred place connected to spiritual beliefs and mountain legends. The most famous story tells of the Seventh Fairy Maiden, who descended from heaven and fell in love with a poor orphan boy on earth. According to the legend, the Jade Emperor became angry and ordered her to remain in prayer for one hundred days.

Out of jealousy, one of her sisters falsely accused her of neglecting her prayers. The Jade Emperor punished the fairy maiden by turning her and the ceremonial offerings into stone. Later, after discovering the truth, he allowed her spirit to return to heaven and declared that a festival should be held every year on the ninth day of the first lunar month at the place where she prayed. Local people believe that place became Dong Tien Cave.

Today, the annual Dong Tien Festival continues to preserve the spiritual traditions and cultural identity of the ethnic communities living in the former Ham Yen region.
