Quang Ngai is located in Vietnam's South Central Coast region. The province borders Da Nang to the north, Gia Lai to the south, and the East Sea to the east.

Quang Ngai City is approximately 130 km south of Da Nang, around 890 km from Hanoi, and about 820 km from Ho Chi Minh City by road. The province is connected by National Highway 1, the North-South Expressway, and the North-South Railway.
